A 'Beastie' on the boat
This curious creature was spotted by one of our young passengers on the long lunchtime trip today. It was under the bench seat when Sophie (aged almost 5) first noticed it. As we travelled it got brave and crawled out of hiding onto the top of the seat. It was easily identified as some sort of larva, but what will it become?
Further investigation has it confirmed that it is the larva of the of the Lime Hawk Moth. If you want to know more follow this link to the Butterfly Conservation website:
And so we learn something new every day on our canal trips. Let us know if you find anything interesting as you explore the Moira Furnace Country Park.
