A bumper weekend for the Heritage Open Days and Hello Heritage

WOW! What a great way to finish the our season of full time opening!

On Saturday, we opened the museum for free to all visiting public as part of the local 'Hello Heritage' initiative. Alongside this, we sold tea, coffee and cakes. We also welcomed the Heart of the Forest Heritage group with their tent, showcasing the heritage within the local area. Despite the weather, we still had a great turn out.

Sunday saw the return of the ever popular Curly Magpie vintage fair. No rain this time and plenty of people. The museum was, once again, free, this time through the national Heritage Open Days scheme, with extra boat rides being put on to accommodate the amount of people we welcomed to the site. We also provided a very popular BBQ.

It's been a long weekend but all the staff and volunteers are still standing and still smiling thanks to our lovely visitors. What a way to finish the summer.

The Heritage Open Days continue next weekend with free access to the museum on both Saturday and Sunday with the boat running throughout the day. See you then!
